snow drift and sliding loads

(OP)
I am working on a roof design that has a 45 degree roof slope that suddenly changes to an almost flat roof (1/4" per foot). How can I determine the snow sliding and drifting requirements? The snow drift calcs in ASCE-7 are for a flat roof to flat roof with a step down, not a sloped roof with a drastic slope change.

RE: snow drift and sliding loads

Calculate the top of snow as if it was a step than "remove" the snow loading that is under the pitch roof.

RE: snow drift and sliding loads

I don't think you will get much snow buildup for a case like yours.  I would look at it as a sawtooth roof.
