ADV SIM / Nastran units?

ADV SIM / Nastran units?

ADV SIM / Nastran units?

(OP)
Hi folks :)

Perhaps a bit silly question but nevertheless:

How can I define default units in NX to be mm, metric tonne and N? Whenever I change the units via custom unit manager, it's ok and unit info shows me the correct units.

But the problem arises when I generate Nastran input deck (.dat), where other units are defined (kg, mm, mN). I have also seen the parameter UNITSYS in .dat file, which is supposed to be used by NX only.

If I read/import results back to NX it's all ok, but the problem is when importing to other apps (which unavoidably I must do).

Therefore: how can I set the units, so that would be mm-t-N unit system in .dat generated from NX?

Many thx and have a nice day!

br, Bojan

RE: ADV SIM / Nastran units?

Hi

this is my first post in Eng-Tips Forums

I don't see any default settings about the nastran file units in NX advanced Simulation. the default setting is mm-mN-kg.

but in some cases our customers want mm-N-tonne or other unit systems.

to do this I use the export simulation option (File -> Export-> Simulation)

here I can select the unit system while creating the nastran input file. and then I execute the nastran.exe and solve the input file.

While postprocessing the results I import the .op2 result file and select the unit system for the results.
