Shrink fit of bronze-graphite bushings by liquid nitrogen

Shrink fit of bronze-graphite bushings by liquid nitrogen

(OP)
Hi,

In industry, bushings can be fit in their housings by cooling first (generally in liquid nitrogen) and then letting them expand again in the housing.

This method seems quite reliable when the bushing material is homogeneous.

But what if the bushing is a self lubricating bronze-graphite buhshing (see link below for an example)? Is the method still valid? Anyone having an experience with the application is appreciable.

Regards..

Haven't any direct experience of a customer using this method, but catalogues I have for Deva bm material (www.deva.de) give super-cooling as an acceptable method for this type of bearing.
