Counter Fire Shutters

Counter Fire Shutters

Counter Fire Shutters

(OP)
The Architect is showing roll up fire rated counter shutters in a 6 foot by 4 foot counter.  Do these need to be tied into the fire alarm system?  Are there special fire sprinkler requirements at these shutters?

RE: Counter Fire Shutters

No special sprinkler requirements that I know of, the shutters are designed to maintain the fire seperation of the assembly in a fire. Depending on the make they are operated by a fusible link or by the fire alarm system. Check what the architect has specified.

I'd also consider cross-posting over to the NFPA forum.

Quite a group of fire experts over there.
