Terminations at station transformer

Terminations at station transformer

(OP)
Hello all,

Currently we are upgrading our 34.5KV tie line to two of our stations from 750 CU to 1250 CU.  At one of the stations the cable from the Buss work to Tranformer bank is also 750 MCM CU and needs to be upgraded.  The problem is that this require special terminators to the transformer.

The vendor I spoke to suggest retrofitting the current oil filled termination cabinet to and air insulated configuration.

Are there any issues or concerns I would need to be aware of? Thanks for any help

RE: Terminations at station transformer

Make sure the air insulated box is correctly designed for the BIL of the system. Depending on the design of the transformer you may need to drop the oil level in the main tank to change the box. If that is the case a PCB test would be a wise precaution.
Regards
Marmite
