Cracing temperature of hydrocarbon
Cracing temperature of hydrocarbon
(OP)
Hello everybody,
please could you help me with following toppic,
We are designing crude oil distillation plant. My issue is now to find somewhere how to estimate heater outlet temperature (atmosferic distillation, vacuum distillation as well).
I know there is a temperature limit due to cracking. Is there avaible any method how to estimate this cracking temperature?
thnx,
have a nice day

RE: Cracing temperature of hydrocarbon
There are graphs available that shows the amount of cracking versus temperature, but I no longer have access to them.
Typically crude heaters are 370-380 C max and vacuum heaters are 400-410 C max.

Pick up the late Dr Glenn Handwerks book with some of the charts and other info on refineries

Or you may follow the worked out examples given by D.S.J. Jones in his Elements of Petroleum Processing, John Wiley & Sons.

Finally, I have found this diagram. I think, it is good point how to start.
