Pressure, Volume, Time - equation to relate these values
Pressure, Volume, Time - equation to relate these values
(OP)
Hello there,
I'd need an help from you concerning pressure, volumes and time.
I tried to find something in past post, but with poor success.
Following is the issue.
I have got a compressor, and I now that for increasing pressure of a volume of 50 l of air from 1 to 120 bar it takes 100 minutes.
From manufacturer I know that for the same increase of pressure, I'd need for 1l, 1.2 minutes.
I suppose I'd need other values like volume displacement of the compressor.
Nevertheless I'd like to ask you if you know - or if exists - some equations that would allow me to calculate:
- ex: how long it will take me to increase the pressure to 120 bar of a volume of 22 l
- how long it will take me to increase the pressure of 50l to 120bar if I would charge previously this volume at 32 bar.
Many thanks for your help !

RE: Pressure, Volume, Time - equation to relate these values
No realistic compressor takes a 100 minutes to go from atmospheric to 100 bar ... The one I used (well, hired actually) last night did it in a few revolutions of the crankshaft.
Check your numbers again please.
RE: Pressure, Volume, Time - equation to relate these values
compressing gas requires work.
work/time = power
Calculate work and divide by power available

so use the equation for VE found in the GPSA databook.
