pqr/wps for dissimilar thk and QW-202.4

pqr/wps for dissimilar thk and QW-202.4

pqr/wps for dissimilar thk and QW-202.4

(OP)
i submit pqr and wps for bw joint configuration pn8 to pn8. i have a tee bw joint with dissimilar thickness. thickness limit qualified is 3mm. customer refuses the documents and refers to QW-202.4 that require pqr with thickness minimum 6 mm. i don't found interpretation for this.
what do you think about the customer argument ?

Was the test plate on your PQR 3mm thick?
What are the thicknesses of your dissimilar joint?
Have you reviewed QW202.4?

Is the thicker part to be tapered to the thickness of the thinner part?  If so, this may solve your problem. See interpretation IX-01-23.

it's for pipe.
dissimilar thk : 3 and 12 mm
yes, I review the QW202.4 and I get the interpretation IX-98-20 and -98-20R.
it seems that I had to qualify at minimum 6 mm according to QW202.4. but interpretation IX-98-20 requires that the greater of the thickness should be within the qualified range of the wps.

Unbeleivable ! I had to review all my pqrs. I wait the opinion of our notified body before proceeding. European standards are differents and simple for this kind of qualification.
