Fire Pump Grouting

Fire Pump Grouting

Fire Pump Grouting

(OP)
I have a fire pump and since the GC was going to pour more concrete, we set the pump up on 3/4" A. T. Rod with 1" sch 80 pipe nipples (sleeved the Rod) and they formed and poured the pump pad, my question is; the lower lip of the pump base is encased in the concrete so where does the NFPA 20 requirement come into play for grouting?

spkreng, CET

RE: Fire Pump Grouting

If I recalled correctly I had the same question while taking a NICET test.
The answer I found was that the entire based must be in contact with the concrete and the entire based must be filled with concrete as well. No empty pockets allowed.

RE: Fire Pump Grouting

I agree with NJ1. The last ten pumps I installed, the pad was formed all the way up to the bottom of the base plate which would fulfill your grouting requirement.

If we all agreed, we would be Communists.- Me.
