electric compressor 1959 need help

(OP)
If this is wrong forum, sorry.

It was removed from elevator shaft in the 1980s and has been sitting in someones garage ever since. I'm told it was functioning when removed.

I dont want to just plug in it. i'd like some help first. I have pictures and specific questions. Is anyone interested in helping or sending me to a better forum?

tks,

Assuming this doesn't get deleted as a home question sadeyes , maybe try forum1083: Fluid Power engineering.

RE: electric compressor 1959 need help

Many local motor rewind shops have the equipment to test a motor to tell you whether it is still servicable or not.  I can't say much for the pump, though.

If it is broken, fix it.  If it isn't broken, I'll soon fix that.

RE: electric compressor 1959 need help

Clean it up and rotate by hand. Dry it out if was ever wet. get a Variac and put on the voltage slowly. Or better get an electrical shop to look at it. Be safe and have respect for electricity, or don`t touch it if you are not confident in what you are doing.
