Pattern face on imported part

Pattern face on imported part

Pattern face on imported part

(OP)
Hi,
I would like to cut the model with the face indicated in the image in a circular mode.
Have you some suggestion, because I tried to pattern, but nothing.
I would like to use the acclaimed ST technology.

Thank you...

RE: Pattern face on imported part

Your example is asymmetrical and therefore could NEVER be modified in the manner which you are suggesting.

Attached is a symmetrical example modified in a manner as close to as what you were asking for as is currently possible with NX.  If the part is symmetrical, there are actually a couple of approaches that I could have taken which would give you the correct result, which in the end is all that's important.

To an Engineer, the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.

Hi John, the part is symmetrical, apart the big radius.
The part is 115 mm x 115 mm.
Have you a ST solution ?

Thank you...

RE: Pattern face on imported part

I was talking about the radius of the corners.

Aaahh..and if the corner radius was equal...some ST solution are possible ?

RE: Pattern face on imported part

Not without having to subdivide some faces in order to get where Pattern Face might have a chance of working.  But the scenario I used in the example I posted is a perfectly valid aolution.  ST is not a panacea, it's but another item in your 'tool box'.  Use it when it suitable for your operations, but don't stop when you find that there are no ST tools suitable for the task.  That's why we still give you all of the other modeling tools.
