Experience with Engineers Aide?

Experience with Engineers Aide?

(OP)
A am considering buying the program "Engineers Aide", and wonder what other peoples experience has been.  The software is fairly expensive and I wonder if it is worth the price, or is there something else out there I should be looking at.

Thanks,
Steve Zeigler

RE: Experience with Engineers Aide?

Better late than never I guess. I work for a small firm and we are struggling with the same decision. We've looked at Engineer's Aide, The Crane Companion by ABZ, Inc., and Flo-Series by Engineered Software.

I used Engineer's Aide at my previous job and know it's a great tool, but I wonder if one of these other tools will provide what I need for less cost.

The hard part is predicting the future and knowing what you will be using the tool for after you have it. Since we have little other engineering software here, I will probably use all the functionality of the software, including the pipe spec writer, estimating, rv sizing, etc. that the other packages don't seem to offer so I am leaning toward Eng Aide at this point.

Any experience/advice to share out there?

RE: Experience with Engineers Aide?

If piping flow analysis is your goal I would go with PIPE-FLO rather than Engineers Aide. I have used both and PIPE-FLO is far better and more versatile than Engineer's Aide in Piping Flow analysis.
