SolidWorks 2010 Electrical Routing
SolidWorks 2010 Electrical Routing
(OP)
Hello all!
I'm glad there are so many tips and tutorials on how to use the Electrical Routing in Solid Works, but what I haven't found much on is how to *set up the components* they're using, the wires, and getting those XML files to *update when you do attempt to create a new connector*, etc.
The default connectors and such that come with the install aren't sufficient to do what I need to do, as many of you may already know.
I've tried it about 24 times now, and each time I can't seem to get the process right. I'm starting to wonder if it's user error or something weird about my file locations.
So, could anyone please point me in the direction of ACTUALLY getting started with the Routing package... from the actual START... not the "here's how you make wires and drag and drop connectors we already set up... oh, right... you don't know how to do that... hmm. Oh well!"
Thanks!

RE: SolidWorks 2010 Electrical Routing
There's a "Routing Component Wizard" under Routing->Routing Tools. I don't think it's documented in the tutorials. That should help you get started. It'll make sure you have the necessary features for a given route component and it'll add it to your routing library. That was something I didn't catch on to at first--the parts have to be saved into the routing library, not just a component with CP's and RP's defined.
I don't have a lot of experience with using the from-to lists, so I can't speak to that directly.

I started the wizard and went through it a bit. Seems like I'll need to play some more before I can report good results...
Thanks again!
