salt dryer operating temperature

salt dryer operating temperature

salt dryer operating temperature

(OP)
We have a coalescer and a salt dryer in series to remove moisture form our diesel product,
Design operating temperature for the salt dryer is 50 deg celsius, It is still not clear to me that what advantages can i get in the salt dryer performance if i operate at higher then or lower then this temperature and why?

RE: salt dryer operating temperature

Saqib!

The reasons may be that, if you operate at higher temperatures the chemical may deteriorate and if operated at lower temperatures its moisture absorbing (or adsorbing) capacity may decrease. (This is the general case with desiccating agents) But there should be a range rather than strict 50 deg. C

Truth: Even the hardest of the problems will have atleast one simple solution. Mine may not be one.

RE: salt dryer operating temperature

Hi,
If you operate the salt dryer at low temperature, the moisture in the product will be lower.
You can check t yourself if you check the moisture at midday and at around 2-3 A.M. in early morning. You will find marked difference.
Second, don't go by the design operating temperature, it could be the max. temp envisaged by designer.
Thirdly, you can check the effect of temparture on water solubilty in API Technical databook.

Regards,
SAA
P.S:I presume you are talking hydrocarbon stream like diesel...
