piping software

(OP)
Hello,
What is the general software for industrial piping design in US and/or CANADA ?
                            Thanks

RE: piping software

CaesarII (coade) and pipepak (Algor)are useful. One utility uses "Triflex"

RE: piping software

If you are talking about stress analysis, there are programs such as Coade's Caesar II, Rebis Autopipe, and Piping Solutions Triflex.

If you are talking about 3D piping layout/plant design, then you're wanting something like Intergraph PDS, Rebis Autoplant, or PDMS (don't remember who makes that one)

RE: piping software

May be worth checking out www.pipeflow.co.uk

RE: piping software

the software mentioned are not cheap. not only do you have to pay for the software and tech support services but also will have to spend money for the training and laying out the adminstrative policy for your design group.

Weve got both the algor and caesar 2. algor is much easier to use but i still prefer the hand calc using a programale calculator (ti59 /hp41) to check the stress level. We also have the Intergraph and edms in placed but we're still making some iso using the board and drafting tools. If your work does not require the muscle of the intergraph suite, u may settle for the microstation by bentley.

by the way, we're based in saudi arabia.

RE: piping software

PDMS is 3D plant design software by AVEVA(Formally the CADCENTRE) www.aveva.com
Also check www.cadarena.com for independant support

RE: piping software

I used PDS,it's not so good to use. i was looking for a good software used on PC.

There is a new software called ACPlant Designer - you may what to check them out. Pretty good stuff

RE: piping software

Take a look at Plant-4D.  We go thru PIDS.  www.pidsusa.com.

It's a great software for P&ID's & Piping.

RE: piping software

can I dowanload PDMS in free trial version??
if yes...what is links?
thanx.

RE: piping software

I don't know of any downloadable version of PDMS. For any trial, check directly with Aveva
Check their site for more information and contacts
http://www.aveva.com/engineeringit
Look for Vantage products.
You may be able to arrange a demo or trial specific to your needs

RE: piping software

Software for general calcs for branch reinforcement, allowable pressures, mitered elbows, SIF's, line blanks, etc., are available too. Mine are in 23 Excel spreadsheets and shown at http://www.pipingoffice.us .

RE: piping software

For internal flow analysis I have used FlowMaster2 and myself-made tools in Excel.

I have found Excel is very good tool for simple steady state incompressible analysis within the piping systems, but also for simple compressible analysis.

RE: piping software
