Load of Building

Load of Building

Load of Building

(OP)
I am working on excavation issues involved with a 12 story building with 3 level underground garage.  I would like to know what would be a typical building load if I spread the load out on a mat over the entire building area?  So mostly i would be considering the dead load, say 80% or so.  For steal framing, would 150 or 200 psf per story be appropriate?  Is this to high or to low. I need to figure approximate unloading/ heave for the excavation, and reloading from the dead load of the building.  Rough numbers will do for now.

Thanks

RE: Load of Building

Dead load only:

I would assume 120 psf for the parking garage floors, assuming an 8" slab with beams, and 75 to 80 psf for the other floors assuming metal deck with concrete infill composite construction.

RE: Load of Building

Don't forget the exterior skin weight.  Precast or brick can get heavy.

That what I need, the entire building envelope, spread out over the footprint.  Looks like the building skin will be mostly glass surface above ground.

RE: Load of Building

Oh, and for the roof, I would use 20 psf DL, assuming no concrete topping.

So looks like about 1200 to 1400 psf is about all I could count on at most.

Thanks

RE: Load of Building

I see 1100 psf plus cladding.
