How can affect the ripple in the amount of vibrations in one DC Motor

(OP)
Hello all

Really I have two questions, first is pro and cons of use today new DC motor feeded with an old converter(20 years) and how can affect the ripple in the amount of vibrations in a DC Motor.

TRhanks for the Inputs

RE: How can affect the ripple in the amount of vibrations in one DC Motor

Old and new, no difference when it comes to thyristor controlled rectifiers.

There is one possible difference between old and new rectifiers, the new digital ones usually have a better gating pulse symmetry and that reduces the possible amount of low frequency ripple in the DC current. The amount of 300 or 360 Hz ripple remains the same.

New DC motors usually have better data than old ones. Efficiency is better, overcurrent capability is better. They tolerate overspeed better and commutation is 'darker'. I speak mostly about the ones I have used lately (the ABB DMI motors), but I imagine that other suppliers also have improved their machines.
