Transposing orphan mesh geometry

Transposing orphan mesh geometry

Transposing orphan mesh geometry

(OP)
Hello,

I am trying to take a wire frame mesh generated outside Abaqus and then analyze it using CAE.  I have been successful in importing the mesh into Abaqus and creating an orphan mesh.

Unfortunately I cannot further modify this mesh such as adding loads or specifying properties.

I attempted to use the command "Part2DGeomFrom2DMesh" but this will only work for planar shell Parts, where as I am using a wire mesh part.

My goal is to capture the geometry of the imported mesh (orphan mesh) and use it in CAE.  Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks in Advance
-Rick

RE: Transposing orphan mesh geometry

What format do you have the mesh in? A simple file part import should give you the usable orphan mesh. What happens when you try to apply loads or boundary conditions to it?

The format was an .inp.  I chased my tail for a few days then realized exactly what you are saying.

I am able to apply loads, b.c.s and everything else and then analyze it.

Thanks anyway for the help
