Make an edge stand out to the user in drafting!!!
Make an edge stand out to the user in drafting!!!
(OP)
I have come to this from many directions, initially i wanted to create a custom line font (not dots or dashes)to make a an edge of a model in a drafting view really stand out to the user.... not possible:(
I cant use line thickness's due to another downstream process being dependent upon them.....:(
so........
I thought, i'll use grip, to put a row of points along the edge, in the drafting view.
I can select the edge, but then get an error, when trying to insert the points.
i'm at the stage of trying anything now to make a selected edge in a drawing view stand out.
any ideas?
Cheers,
NXj

RE: Make an edge stand out to the user in drafting!!!
There is a section in the online doc about line fonts, at the very bottom, there is a couple of lines about creating a new font using a symbol.
So i created a symbol using a couple of very short lines which are offset from each other by a very small amount, and used this symbol for the line font.......
So for specific edges of the model, in any view on my drawing, i can make make the edge appear extra thick, (the rest of the edges are thick already) by using the a view dependent edit.
If you zoom in (a lot) you can see that it is 2 lines, but as NX thinks this is just the font of a single line, dimensioning etc works just fine.
So i now have thin, normal, thick and a 'fake' extra thick line which plot etc. without up-setting any down stream process...
i like days like today.

If you happen to come back to this it might be interesting to see what you've achieved and why? Perhaps just in some images or something with a brief explanation. Like John I was at odds to imagine what you really expected with this question.
