Galling issues

Galling issues

(OP)
I am looking for what kind of effect would it be if a 17-4 PH bolt is screwed into a SST/duplex thread hole - with regards to galling or any other performance related issues

Is there any way for metrics for galling like any kinds of testing before itself how the two will react in a long run.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
thanks
VE

RE: Galling issues

The only data point that I have readily available indicates that 17/4 PH vs 2205 will gall a very low contact pressure. 17/4 PH is notorious for galling. thread lubricants do work quite well with 17/4 PH.

Hers is the HP Alloy site where you can download the 60 pg pdf on Nitronic 60.  This will give you a little information on the galling test they use an the one data point mention above.

you can get a copy of the reference mention in the brochure from the Linda Hall Library.
