Dear Folks,

I am new Electrical Engineer.I have to purchase a step up transformer for a 200MVA generator .What is the rated power of the step up transformer (220kV/15kV) that sweets the generator capacity ?
Thanks,

RE: Rated power of generator step up transformer

What are your standards?  Not really a question for the unknown folks out here on the internet to answer for your organization.

RE: Rated power of generator step up transformer

You need to distinguish between rating and capability. Rating is the power throughput at a set of defined conditions. Capability is the power throughput under various conditions and is usually shown as a series of curves.

Normally the GSU transformer capability is chosen so it does not limit the generator output at any point of the capability curve. It can lead to some seemingly over-sized transformers based on the standard IEC conditions, but the margin can be quickly reduced at low temperatures where the generator capability increases faster than that of the transformer.

Hi folks,

Sorry ,I don't refer to the capability of generator.I only refer :
how much the ratio (the rated power of the step up transformer)/ (the rated power of its genrator) can be ?

RE: Rated power of generator step up transformer

It depends and there isn't enough information to get beyond that to a more definitive answer.
