2-way vale mounted in inlet or outlet?

2-way vale mounted in inlet or outlet?

2-way vale mounted in inlet or outlet?

(OP)
Hi,

For example in a air treatment unit, i have a 2-way valve system in the how water pipes that are connected to this unit.
What is the best, install the 2-way valve in the inlet or outlet? Advantages and disadvantages?

This is logically a question that is applied also to any hot water distribution system that uses 2 way valves to control the temperatur. So, whats the difference between installing it in the inlet or outled of the consumer....

Thanks!!!

Dear hsbcn,

I didn't understand if you are asking some question to me, but what you ask is going towards to what i would like to clarify.

thanks anyway for the post

RE: 2-way vale mounted in inlet or outlet?

I'd love to hear a definitive answer to this one...

Our practice has always been to put valve on the outlet of the coil.  This insures positive pressure in the coil at all times -- so if there's a leak, water will drip out and air won't be sucked in.  Sucking in air might affect the whole rest of the system, whereas dripping water should be caught in the auxiliary drain pan (or condensate pan if cooling coil).

Makes no difference, control-wise.

Let's hear from somebody who's got a more complete answer, though...

Good on ya,

Goober Dave

RE: 2-way vale mounted in inlet or outlet?

can you supply a drawing that can explain better what you want to know, difficult to answer a question that cannot be understood.

Dear itascot,

Can you please help me?
or someone else...? please?

RE: 2-way vale mounted in inlet or outlet?

mfqd,

I think the answer you're getting (by lack of response) is that there is no definitive answer.

In the field, I find maybe 75 percent of the time that the control valve is on the return side of the coil.  The other 25 percent of the time, it's on the supply side.

Good on ya,

RE: 2-way vale mounted in inlet or outlet?

If you install the 2-way valve on the outlet you can control where the hot water goes.  If you install it on the inlet, you can only control where it came from.
