12 Gauge Metal

(OP)
Im having a hard time trying to figure out how I would do this.

What would be the easiest way to model something like this without spending a ton of time?

(BTW) In specific Im talking about the metal sides.

RE: 12 Gauge Metal

Use a mesh texture/appearance.
Set the part to semi-transparent.
Adjust the density to suit.

RE: 12 Gauge Metal

To add to CBL's recommendation of using a texture. . .  Don't even think about making the openings and patterning them UNLESS you are willing to wait a "ton of time".  Depending on the level of detail you need you can make a box and shell it then add features for the angle on the corners.

RE: 12 Gauge Metal

Yeah, I'm down with the appearance route.  You could of course do a fill pattern, but it would eat up some of your processor time.
