Feature pattern along curve
Feature pattern along curve
(OP)
Hi,
I state that I haven't modeled this part, however I attach some files to better understand my request.
Can I repeat 'Extrude(18)' along the red curve as the attached picture and having the bottom extrusion on the 'Datum Plane(52)' ?
Thank you...

Instance Geometry doesn't make boolean operation after the array, I need an extra feature.

Could you Please state what version of NX you're using especially when posting files. NX-7
You don't get an any extra performance or notional brownie points in my estimation for having a few less features in the tree so I don't recommend that you treat that as your criteria for success.
Unfortunately there is no direct way to instance along a curve so you may have to construct those increments yourself perhaps as points along the curve allowing you to use point to point method. Because this won't maintain the bottom face parallel with face Datum(52) so I'd just use replace face at the end based upon the bottom of one of the first three pockets.

I disagree with your opinion.
The tree feature should be as short as possible.
It shows the direction taken by NX in recent years.
Sketches internal, array incorporated in the single function, etc. ..
Suppose the designer models the part without thinking about how to optimize the feature tree, add other features that should be included to complete a simple operation.
You must have a broader view.
See what others CAD are doing (SE, SW, Pro-E, Catia).
However if it is not possible, I adjusted.
Direct modeling is very convenient for those parts which have been shaped by the unwary, only understand how it was modeled, we lose 4 working hours.
