ASTM A518

ASTM A518

ASTM A518

(OP)
Gentlemen,

I am in the process of performing rough engineering calculations for the design of a sump pump system.
The process fluid is  10%  HCL with abbrasive particles of about 10% by weight , the system temperature is about 50 degrees celsius. I did a little research and arrived at the the conclusion that ASTM A518 Gr 2 had the most acceptable rates of corrosion  for this type of environment. I would like to go one step further and suggest the type of material specification for the pump impeller, cartridge , casing , bearings for this type of servive . I would much appraciate if you could help me out here.

Cheers

RE: ASTM A518

Not sure if a metal casing and impeller is really the best choice for HCl. What about plastic or a coating? I would contact a company like Wernert (www.wernert.de) and ask them for a quote with material specification.

Thanks , unfortunately I have to present this as a presentation for a job interview

I dont think the pump vendor would care much as I am representing myself (Not BP, Aramco , Shell etc)  and $$$ are not involved here. I only have the great minds of this fabulous website to  help me on my conquest of this somewhat open ended problem.

RE: ASTM A518

Pd stabilized Ti and Zr would work.
