Check sheet metal part

Check sheet metal part

Check sheet metal part

(OP)
Hi,
there is a command or a tools to verify if a sheet metal is flattener-able or if some flange co-penetrate ?

SolidWorks for example doesn't permit during the flange creation to penetrate in other flange or check in the flattering state.

Thank you

RE: Check sheet metal part

I would suspect that if you can't make a flat-solid, that you will also not be able to make a flat-pattern, so just try performing that operation as a 'test' if you think you may have a problem.

Hi John,
the problem is that the flat-solid is created even if you cannot produce it.
This example that I have attached, even a non-designer eyelid.
For more difficult cases, there is no control?
Check-mate could help me ?

Thank you

After creating the Flat Solid, hide the sheet metal model and perform a...

Analysis -> Examine Geometry...

...paying particular attention to the 'Consistency', 'Face Intersection' and 'Self-Intersection' results.

Hi John,
it works, but exist an automatic control during the project ?
Something if I'm creating a flange that intersect material, NX doesn't complete the process flange creation ?
Only for curiosity...because sometime some workarounds can help the designer to reduce errors during the study.

Thank you for your help..

RE: Check sheet metal part

We used to have all kinds of automatic checks but people complained because it slowed things down terribly, so now we don't check as much and tell people that if they suspect that there is a problem to use 'Examine Geometry' or if they want to automate these checks they could use the Check Mate application to create custom checks which can be set to run before you save your work or whenever.
