Water service sizing
Water service sizing
(OP)
Hi,
I'm trying to size a water service for a 2500 man camp. The Canadian national plumbing code does not size anything over 690 FU. I have 15,000 FU plus a full comerical kitchen plus a wet sprinkler system. How do I start to calculate the water service for something this big?
Regards,
Kris.

RE: Water service sizing
Parks - 5 gal/person for toilet only facilities; 10 gal/person for bathhouse, showers and toilets.
Ordinary Restauraunt food service is 50 gallon/seat
Sprinklers would depend on size and hazard (probably LH with sporadic OH1).
Hope that gets you started.
RE: Water service sizing
You get to pick the acceptable pressure drop, and then can use the final pressure for sizing within the space.
Backing up a bit, civil water service doesn't size exactly like a building or house would (in Fixture Units). Civil engineering textbooks would be a good place to start.
