90 year old drawing nomenclature
90 year old drawing nomenclature
(OP)
I'm working with a 90 year old composite mid-rise in Alabama. I actually have drawings!!!
The drawings for the concrete joist floor systems use the following nomenclature in the Slab Schedules:
Tile & Joist:
T. + C. = 6" + 2-1/2"
Joist:
5" @ 25"
Then in the framing plans there is nomenclature like:
6"M.T. + 2-1/2"C
Any ideas?

RE: 90 year old drawing nomenclature
T. + C. = 6" + 2-1/2"
I think this would be 6" deep tile with 2.5" concrete slab over.
Joist:
5" @ 25" would likely be 5" wide Joist with 20" space between.
Then in the framing plans there is nomenclature like:
6"M.T. + 2-1/2"C
Don't know what the M. stands for, but this notation is similar to the first one, i.e. 6" deep tile with 2.5" concrete slab for a total depth of 8.5".
Are there any cross sections showing the typical floor? And also, are there schedules showing reinforcement? I would imagine the reinforcement would be plain square bars in those days without deformations.

RE: 90 year old drawing nomenclature
I have since mill column foundations with twisted square bars in some ghastly arrangements.
