Chip formation process
Chip formation process
(OP)
hello
I have been working on simulation of chip formation in precision grinding. I started with the application of already done sumulation in chip formation. People generally use abaqus/explicit with ALE remeshing. I have a problem with definition of ALE REMESHING. cAN anyone suggest me anything for chip formation process. Should I use any subroutine? What should it be teh constraint for ALE meshing. I would be appreciated with your help guys.
thank you

I put the my starter model screenshot as attached. when I run simulation, it seems working after long time running around 2 days then terminate itself with some error which i didnt understant. I thought that the problem caused by Contact definition and ALE adaptive meshing constraint definition. I tried different interaction. in one is surface to surface contact by penalty friction with slip rate and shear friction modulus. I picke two surfaces as contact surface over the workpice marked A and B over the picture.in the other case, I select contact mate as a node set of whole workpice. I mean all the nodes (with internal) in wokpice. and for the ALE meshing I chose whole workpice as Ale mesh constrainT. which is langrangian model. I doubt that this way is true or not. more clearly. during contact interaction, what should it be the contact mate btw tool and workpice. what should it be the ALE contsraint over the model. by the way in my model. workpice is stationary, tool is moving towards workpice to remove chip from workpiece material. I also used johson-cook plasticity and damage initiaon criteria.
Thank you very much
I am waiting for all invaluable suggestions
