How to test P/V valves
How to test P/V valves
(OP)
Hi
At the company we got a reguest to test some P/V valves with opening pressure on 3 mBar and -3 mBar.
But im not sure how to test them.
There are 2 types of valve´s that we will like to test, one of them vent to atmosphere and the other one vent to pipe.
We got high precision gauge to measure with.
Is if just adding pressure to the inlet and see when it start leeking?
Regards

RE: How to test P/V valves
I claim no expertise in testing, but have prescribed P/V -valves in this range. Normally (as for all valves) the manufacturor will test themselves, and you should be able to get advice from the actual or any competitive producer.
For this small and narrow range it is of course important that measurment instruments and testrig are adapted to register accurately, including sufficient 'decimals' to register small percentage variations when testing.

We have very accurate and calibrated measurement instruments so that´s not a problem at all...

However, if your supplier no longer exists, I would seriously consider getting a new one, gudging by the pressure range, you should have no problems in sourcing these & save costs of testing a valve that only you can certify is working corrdectly.
