Can you identify this material?
(OP)
Hey Guys,
I was wondering if you guys could offer any advice, the surface condition of the test sites could have been better. Could anyone take a stab at what material this might be? Parent material is 317SS. Three tests were taken.
PMI Results
Mo- 4.9% 5.3% 6.9%
Ni- 28.9% 36.9% 34.5%
Fe- 50.3% 42.8% 44.4%
Mn- 1.0% 1.3% 0.9%
Cr- 13.5% 11.9% 12.0%
Any advice at all would be apreciated. Hoping to get a grinder on the test piece tomorrow. I shall post the results.
Thanks in advance,
Dave

RE: Can you identify this material?
°) UNS N 08904 , EN 1.4539( Ni= 26% Cr= 19 % Mo =5%)
or
°) UNS N 08926 , EN 1.4529 Ni= 26% Cr=19% Mo = 6%)
In any case , both of above grades would have respectely Cu = 0,7 and Cu = 1,5%
Verify if this last elements were detected by PMI.
Finally, I point out that a PMI test is a method to confirm an alloy after a calibration using a specimen of that alloy to confirm.
