API 6A Overall Length Design.

API 6A Overall Length Design.

API 6A Overall Length Design.

(OP)
I am currently designing a large odd integer bore 15,000psi API 6A compliant ball valve, yet nowhere can I find the over length I am supposed to adhere to in the design of the valve.

I find it doubtful that B16.34/B16.10 can be used as the highest pressure class contained in that standard is 4500.

Does the overall length become the manufacturers choice/purchasers requirement after a certain point or is there a designated table somewhere I am missing?

Thanks in Advance

RE: API 6A Overall Length Design.

I claim no expertice, but for any norm of valve standards you will get 'holes' for certain diameters and flange borings and also building lengths as you move up the scale.

If you state boring in addition to pressure class and application type (fluid), you would probably have a better chance of finding nearest answer or 'what is done before'.

If this is a nominal diameter and pressure class fabricated before, you could at least get reference to 'common branch standard' or 'common fabrication standard comparable to brand xx' if the standard itself is lacking in sufficient details not described.

RE: API 6A Overall Length Design.

My experience is that unusual bores and pressures often mean made-to-spec materials, ranging from the valve itself to anything close to it, such as gaskets, flanges and piping. We've dealt with unusual sizes and pressures, and they have all required special (non-standard) dimension and other characteristics.
