Settlement sensitive structures over mines
Settlement sensitive structures over mines
(OP)
Does anyone know of any settlement sensitive structures such as powerplants, semiconductor FABS etc that have been successfully constructed over areas of deep longwall mining?

Do the terms 'deep' and 'longwall' go together? If so, would you expect any settlement?
You might try searching for the term 'subsidence' as one of your keywords.
While not a longwall operation, I seem to recall hearing about subsidence in the town of Flin Flon, Manitoba (Canada) when I was there a number of years ago. The mine underneath the town was creating building settlement issues (not sure if it affected the mill, etc.).

RE: Settlement sensitive structures over mines
Longwall can be carried out at depths of 700m. The reason I'm asking this is that I wouldn't expect much settlement from deep mines but I am interested in finding out if there have been any problems from deep mining. Thanks for your information on Flin Flon, I will search it.
