Aggregate under Curbs

Aggregate under Curbs

Aggregate under Curbs

Got the "Why" disease...

Sometimes curb in a parking lot is speced with aggregate base...sometimes not...What are the reasons for or against? Is it pure designer preference?

The current project has asphalt pavement over GCA (ABC) and landscaped islands...

.

RE: Aggregate under Curbs

Generally it is because the curb will occasionally get traffic loads and should have the same stability as the adjacent pavement.  Further, drainage can cause the curb to displace vertically and laterally if there is no base under it.

Yep...understand...and agree...I'd always advocate for base stone...gotta wonder why some don't...Optomisticly, I assume that there is a reason...Thanks
