Phase Shifting Transformers

Phase Shifting Transformers

Phase Shifting Transformers

(OP)
I'm doing a high level review of options to increase transmission capacity into an area and am aware that phase shifting transformers may provide a solution.  Does anyone know of any links to papers where I could get some more information on the theory and operation of phase shifting transformers?

Thanks in advance, StR

RE: Phase Shifting Transformers

Check the IEEE Std C57.135-2001: "Guide for the Application, Specification and Testing of Phase Shifting Transformers"

To help your searching check under "phase-angle regulator (PAR) is the device most often used. PAR is also referred to as a power-angle regulator, or phase shifter."

For your reference see the enclosed article related to Utility Practice Using Phase Sifting Transformers.

Most recently there are improvement in the performance of conventional phase-shifting transformer adding reactive reactance in parallel to form a simple application of the Interface Power Control Technology (IPC) . For more details, see the enclosed publication

A classical reference is the T&D Reference Book by Westinghouse on Chapter 5 Part XIII.
