How to reassociate parts with draft in ST1

How to reassociate parts with draft in ST1

How to reassociate parts with draft in ST1

Hi All

I am a new user to Solid Edge and I am struggling to re-associate the model with the draft after renaming files.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Paul

RE: How to reassociate parts with draft in ST1

Assuming ST isn't too different from earlier versions, you want to use a built in application called 'Revision Manager'.

Try a search of this site and you should find some other threads that have talked about it.

Revision Manager is very useful for moving, renaming and similar file management tasks.

Sadly, I don't think there is a built in tutorial for it which is a real shame as it really is quite a good tool - better than what's available on some other more common CAD products so I'm told.

Hi KENAT,

Thanks, I managed to sort it via the home button and 'manage source'. Thanks for the advice on revision manager. I will take a look at it.

Best regards,
Paul

Revision manager is definately the right tool for this job but you can also open the draft file, go to the solid edge button and under "Manage" you have a command called "Edit links" this will open a window which will enable you to modify the source file.

Hope it helps.

Paul,
Revision Manager is one tool you should really get to know.
It's the proper way to rename, copy, move and re-link files and is really powerfull.
However, with that power comes the ability to completely screw up a whole load of stuff, so start to learn on some test files and assemblies first.
If you need any help with it just come back here.

RE: How to reassociate parts with draft in ST1

Attached is a basic primer for revision manager with models.

This primer uses the menus and wizard (I prefer right click to access menu). It's old, but so is revision Manager. BUT it's a really useful tool, I use it daily.

It's a shame that the SE people never developed this further as it had great potential
