Electronic monitoring of power fuses?

Electronic monitoring of power fuses?

Electronic monitoring of power fuses?

(OP)
This is a request by our maintenance guy...these are large power fuses in switchgears or in fuseholders up on steel towers. Is there a way we can hook up some type of switch that we can pull into a PLC to tell us if the fuse is blown? Is this a common application? Can you provide a link to something you have used before?

RE: Electronic monitoring of power fuses?

Bigger fuses are available in certain styles with a striker pin to operate an external switch or with an optional microswitch which fits to the fuse body. The styles with these features tend to be more expensive and harder to come by, but they are available.
