Looking for strongest as-welded aluminum

Looking for strongest as-welded aluminum

Hi,

I am designing a high pressure wash gun using a Cat 6020 pump.

P = 1000 psi
Q = 60 GPM

The gun will look similar to this:
http://www.gardnerdenverproducts.com/assets/0/180/146/196/3e5967b6-7800-4c81-a676-4138a0dbe0dd.PDF

We currently use a 1950 vintage gun made from 1" 304 tube, so the gun is very heavy.  We are looking to use the existing drawings and make with aluminum tube.

Based on Lincoln welding site, a 5083 alloy with 5183 filler provides a 22000 psi yield. (Mechanical properties 5 Table)
http://www.lincolnelectric.com/knowledge/articles/content/alumapp.asp

A quick hoop stress calc using 1" tube and Factor of Safety of 3

Outside Dia. 1"
Inside Dia. .810"
Wall Thickness .095"

S=Pr/t
 =3000(.405)/.095
 =13000 psi

It looks like the 1" 5083 tube/5183 filler is sufficient.

I am curious to know what ASME Pressure Vessel Code says but I do not have one with me.

Am I missing anything?
Any recommendations?

Thank you.

RE: Looking for strongest as-welded aluminum

Are you actually welding a long seam on the tube?

No seams. We will be welding the inlet and outlet tubes to the main body
