Addendum & Dedendum Coefficients Face Gears

Addendum & Dedendum Coefficients Face Gears

Addendum & Dedendum Coefficients Face Gears

(OP)
I'm working on a design with a face gear of European origin which references an addendum coefficient and a dedendum coefficient.  What happens to the face gear when these coefficients are less than 1.0 or greater than 1.0?  Is there a resource that explains this in detail?

RE: Addendum & Dedendum Coefficients Face Gears

badpeanut,

It's not an ISO or DIN reference, but AGMA 203.02 and 203.03 discuss face gear geometries with a 20deg press angle spur pinion.

Chapter 18 of Litvin's book "Gear Geometry and Applied Theory" also gives a very detailed description of face gear geometries.

Hope that helps.
Terry
