Missing toolbars (do have "rws" files though)
Missing toolbars (do have "rws" files though)
(OP)
A coworker opened up UG through an explorer window by double clicking on a UG part. UG opened without using the GM Toolkit like we usually do. His toolbars are not as he had been using. I guess upon exit last night his toolbars were saved at that time and are different now.
We do have "rws" files, but not sure if they can be used to restore his toolbars. He has not saved any "tbr" files that I know of.
We also get this issue when our IT dept upgrades UG for us also. Is there anyway to minimize the frustration of reseting the toolbars each time?
Thanks,
Allen

Not too familiar w/roles. I guess I never took the time to investigate the benefits of using them. I need to.
Andre,
Thanks for the info. Instead of giving him my .mtx setting, he already had reconfigured his toolbars already the way he wanted.
I did have him copy the mtx file to "user_copy.mtx" and store in the same place. If something squirrely happens again, we can use the "copy" file and rename it the "user.mtx" and keep all his settings.
Thanks to the both of you,
Allen

That's basically what Roles allow you to do, but with an elegant built-in fully-supported workflow.
Just go to the Roles tab on the Resource Bar, and with your cursor over some 'white space', press MB3, select the 'New User Role' option, enter a name and hit OK. Now whenever "something squirrely happens", just open the Roles tab, select the 'role' that was created and is saved in the 'User' section, and you're back to where you were when you created your role or last updated it.
