I have some mechanical damage to repair on X65 material, using GTAW would I simply set away with using an ER70s filler wire?the material is 1" Thick and the scarring is vey shallow.
thanks ibn advance

RE: Welding X65

Yes. For repair less than 20% of wall thickness, I would suggest ER70 S-2 filler metal. Prepare the weld repair region by removing any sharp corners, use a local preheat of 200 deg F and stringer beads. Slow cool, blend grind and perform a post repair NDT using either Liquid Penetrant or wet fluorescent MT for final acceptance of the repair area.
