Modelling a guideway for a machine tool

Modelling a guideway for a machine tool

Modelling a guideway for a machine tool

(OP)
Hi All,

I am working on a stactic simulation of machine tool where I am using ANSYS Workbench 11.0 and have problems modeling the contact in the guideway. (I am trying to replace the stiffnes of a ball screw for a spring).

After defining the contact properties between the two faces as a "frictionless" contact, I get the next error while I am simulating:

"One or more bodies may be underconstrained and experience rigid body motion"

Thus, I have tried to put springs in the direction of the movement of the guideway, but I still have the same problem.

Is there any suitable way to define the contact between two faces of two different bodies with an elastic behaviour?

Any help is much appreciated

Thanks in advance
