Hi, Using the SolidWorks file format to download Misumi component CAD files results in the message along the lines of 'filename or type invalid'. Any suggestions of which other file format to use? Thanks

RE: Misumi downloads

Try following

1. Try dragging the link into window
2. Check the version of SolidWorks on the web as it can be newer than yours
3. Try parasolid or step instead of SolidWorks native file.

RE: Misumi downloads

Actual that is a macro file which you need to run in order to have the part/assembly

Go to Tools > Macro > Run and browse to the downloaded macro.

Are you saying the link I posted is a macro? I don't think so. The link takes you to the Misumi configureable component page. Once you configure the component you may select the CAD download tab. This brings up the drop down menu that you can select the file format you require. To execute the download you click 'generate'. This generates a zip folder with the file in it. You then extract the file. But the file has an .swb extension. Could that be the problem?

RE: Misumi downloads

".swb" is a SolidWorks macro extension.

As Deepak suggested, run the macro and it will probably build the part.

Thanks guys. I've never had to do that before. My previous CAD app was CoCreate and I just downloaded STEP files from Misumi. Thanks again!

RE: Misumi downloads

You can still download STEP or Parasolid or IGES or whatever neutral format you wish.  SW can open any of them.

RE: Misumi downloads

I use Misumi a lot.  You need to extract the .swb file then run a macro in SW and it will build the part.  It should come zipped with a text file that explains how to use the .swb file.
