compression dynamic stop

(OP)
The ASME B&PV Code Section III, Division 1, Subsection NF (supports) provides a material exemption in NF-1110(e) for:

"compression dynamic stops used as stops for seismic and other dynamic loads that are designed primarily for compressive loading and are not connected to the support or pressure boundary"

what is the definition of a "compression dynamic stop"?  actually, i probably just need to know what a "stop" or "support stop" is with regard to piping support design.

thank you.
