VFD Low Voltage Output Footswitch

VFD Low Voltage Output Footswitch

(OP)
I am using a variable frequency drive (VFD) to control the speed of and provide a soft start for a 115VAC asynchronous motor.  I want to be able to connect the VFD to a footswitch that will act strictly as an on/off control for the motor, as motor speed and soft start need not be controlled on the fly.

The VFD provides logic inputs that accept a 0-15VDC signal that can be used to provide this functionality.  However, I am having great difficulty finding a suitable footswitch, as all of the ones that I am finding provide a 115VAC/120VAC output voltage.

Does anyone know of low voltage output footswitches or a way that I can use a standard footswitch to provide a 0-15VDC signal when pressed?

RE: VFD Low Voltage Output Footswitch

Most foot switches I've seen are just...switches.  I.e. they will switch whatever voltage you apply to them, on and off.  The voltage (and current) rating of a switch are most typically the maximum allowables.

RE: VFD Low Voltage Output Footswitch

Are you confusing the actual output voltage with the rating? Most switches just put out whatever voltage you put in, just... switched. smile
