Drafting object assoc. issue

Drafting object assoc. issue

Drafting object assoc. issue

(OP)
Does anyone know how to remove the automatic assoc orgin placement of objects (dims, text, symbols) within drafting app.?

It is very annoying on trying to place an object in a somewhat close proximity to another object.  The new object grabs the origin of the old object and does not "release".  I then have to place the object where I "don't" want and then go back and remove the origin "associativity" and then move to my new location that I wanted to start with.

Is there a way to disable the "grabbing" of existing objects or at least modify a distance setting for the new object to grab?

Thanks,

Allen

RE: Drafting object assoc. issue

Hold down the 'Alt' key when placing the object, this will temporarily disable the 'object snapping'.

If understand your problem try the following:
Go to PREFERENCES, DRAFTING, PREVIEW, ANNOTATION then uncheck DYNAMIC ALIGNMENT.
Hope this helps. Been there.

uncheck the Icon with the letter A the red point and chain symbol (ass. origns) while dimension creation.

Wayne,
That took care of turning it off.  Thanks!

There are times when I like the Dynamic alignment but I wish it had a setting as not to grab notes just off the screen away from the note I want to align with or a keystroke to push the "grabbed" note to another note.  So, I might use the "Alt" key as Cowski mentioned above but I told some of my coworkers about the setting to turn off and they are turning it off.

Thanks cowski and Wayne.  It's always good to find out these little tips.
