TL5 Barrier-Moment Slab Design

TL5 Barrier-Moment Slab Design

TL5 Barrier-Moment Slab Design

(OP)
I have been asked to design a moment slab (6' shoulder width) that has an attached TL-5 rated concrete barrier/parapet. There doesn't seem to be much information out there for the design of these things.  The overturning and sliding checked out fine due to the length of the system, but I'm not exactly sure how to tackle the negative moment reinforcement design of the moment slab.  The shoulder is wide enough that a wheel would be near the edge of the moment slab during impact, so it essentially becomes a simply supported one-way slab with an end moment....assuming my assumptions are correct. How do you guys distribute the force/moment over the length of the moment slab? Would AASTHO Eq A13.3.1-2 be correct for the strip width?  Values in Table 4.6.2.1.3-1 for equivalent strip widths for deck design could be another option, but this isn't a wheel load on a slab.  Thanks for the help!

Found in the Table A13.2-1 that the load distribution length, Lt = 8.0ft.   Nevermind!
