Tracking a movement

Tracking a movement

Tracking a movement

(OP)
Hello,

I have a solidworks model of a very basic mechanical device.  What I am trying to do is track the movement of different points in the assembly as I move it through its motion.  I have been able to collect the data by moving one component by a delta z value, and then just using the measure feature.  But this is very manual labor intensive,  and I have 5 different models to test.  I hope to output the data as something I can use in excel and manipulate.

Thanks,

RE: Tracking a movement

Do you have any of the COSMOS applications?

RE: Tracking a movement

How about using a macro (sorry I'm not an expert but there are folks out here who are just the best with API and macros)

Have you tried to utilize Design Table?

Make two configurations with corresponding mate values. Then insert Design Table and it would automatically populate the necessary columns and then you will have to insert more rows for the other corresponding points.

I have cosmos express,  not great,  but very little expierience in that

not sure on the macro,  that seems like the easiest way,  but I have never done it

Tried design table, It doesnt want to out put the distance value,  just its suppressed or unsuppressed condition.
Plus would i need to make a configuration for every individual movement?

I am trying to trak displacement as i expand one dimension from 160 mm to 405 mm, in 5mm increments.

RE: Tracking a movement

Brian,

You can use a reference dimension in a DT.  As you populate your table for all the increments and controlling only those items necessary you simple add a column with the reference dimension.  As you then activate each config SWX will add the value of the reference dimension in the DT.
