More efficient Partioning

More efficient Partioning

More efficient Partioning

(OP)
Hello all,

Can anyone offer advice on efficient ways of partioning a complex 3D component to allow for hex meshing in abaqus 6.9.  At the moment I am manually breaking down to area into smaller portions, but this is quite time consuming.  I have tried sketching a grid onto a face, but when I extrude the sketch to partion the model it misses out partioning some of the features (like the chamfers).

Many Thanks

RE: More efficient Partioning

It's better if you post a picture as the most efficient method will depend on your geometry.

you can also omit the chamfers if they are not relevant to the analysis (and if they are primarily as edge treatment, they are not -- in most cases)

RE: More efficient Partioning

If you can't post your actual geometry post something similar.  If the dimensions are the only difference and topologically things haven't changed the exact same methodology should work.
