Blast Resistant Design of Concrete Structures
(OP)
Does anybody have any information or recommended resources for blast resistant design of concrete structures? I've got a few books on the way from Amazon, but was wondering in the meantime if anybody has any experience designing for blast resistant structures and any input or thoughts they might have. Thank you.

The study of blast effects on structures has been an area of formal technical investigation for over 60 years. There are numerous texts, guides and manuals on the subject, with continuing research and technical reporting occurring at a brisk pace. However, there is limited guidance available in the literature on the direct application of established blast effects principals to structural design. Numerous efforts are under way to develop comprehensive guides and standards to fill this void. This article presents a general overview of key design concepts for reinforced concrete structures.

Also, "Introduction to Structural Dynamics," by John M. Biggs (MCGraw Hill 1964) has a section on blast effects. Biggs cut his teeth doing DOD work on nuclear explosion effects ...
but this book is very rare now, and costs around $250 used. If you can get it by interlibrary loan, it would be worth looking into. I had him for my dynamics class, and he was a great teacher, and his book is very readable -- 30 years later I still make use of it regularly.
